Roughly sixteen years ago I set out on a wonderful adventure - to start my own company. Kelly and I had recently had Nora (now age 16) and moved to Concord so that Kelly could be close to home and her work at Northeast Hospital. Thank goodness for my naiveté.
The purpose of this letter is to let you know about the growth of Forest Capital from adolescence to adulthood. Just as Nora is now a thriving teenager preparing for her next leg of growth, so is Forest Capital.
For the past 14 months, we have been in discussions with Bernard Robinson & Company (BRC) to be the core of their efforts in offering investment advisory services to their clients.
BRC is a 72-year-old Greensboro based CPA firm with six offices around NC. David McClure, CPA, was acquired by BRC in 2017 and has enjoyed the affiliation.
They are strong believers in the pure fiduciary model and are risk cautious by trade (CPA's, actuaries, and auditors). Most importantly, they are good people with pure intentions and character.
Forest Capital will serve as the managing Investment Advisor for the newly created BRC Wealth Management and will continue to act as the income+growth focused division of the firm. David McClure and I will be the Managing Partners.
My focus remains the same - generating low-risk investment returns with safety of principal as the primary objective. David will assume many of the outside-of-the office tasks, communicating the story to the six offices BRC has around North Carolina.
Beyond the corporate structure, you will notice little change. Dana is fully engaged on the administration front. Please reach out to her if you have any questions: 704.750.8000 or via email at email@example.com.
Recently, Nora was working with me on a farm project (young ladies can operate large excavators too!) and telling me about a fortuitous meeting she had with someone who has helped her clarify her college and potentially postgraduate direction.
At the end of her discussion, I realized the conclusion of my note to you: I work for you only, both contractually and fundamentally.
You have confided your trust, goodwill, and fortune to me. For that, I am eternally grateful. Even more special is the investment you have made in me through your kind notes, commitment, and interest in our process. Thank you.
Thank you for the opportunity to work for you and your families. Thank you for the time you have invested in me. Thank you for your friendship, kindness, and confidence. I am appreciative and grateful.
